The following sessions are designed to provide a social feel to information sharing. There will be plenty of time to talk to your fellow doulas, and the workshops are being run on a Sunday morning from a location that can facilitate bringing your family along.

The Lychgate Studio in St.Clement, Truro is situated along a beautiful stretch of river which is easy for toddlers and buggies, and breathtaking for adults. Partners and children can therefore go for a walk while the doula gets some time with the doulas!

Each session costs £5.00 to attend and needs to be booked in advance by emailing Janey on janey@butterflyworks.co.uk

Workshop One - Exploring Placenta Rituals
Sunday July 24th 10am for a 10.30-12.30 workshop

Presented by Kylie Pattniak

During this workshop we'll explore the theories, the potential benefits of placentophagy in the early post partum, and the nutritional value of the placenta.
In addition to discussing encapsulation we'll also cover placenta smoothies and other ways to consume your placenta.  If we have time we'll also cover lotus birthing, placenta homeopathic remedies and printing too.

Workshop Two -
Aromatherapy & Massage to Support Giving Birth
Sunday  August 28th 10am for a 10.30 – 12.30 workshop

Presented by Janey Ashton

This is an opportunity to explore how, where, and when to massage a woman during the birthing of her baby. In addition to this there will be information on appropriate essential oils for each stage of birth, and how they can be used.
Activities will be hands on – so wear lose clothes – you will be massaged and massaging!

Workshop Three - Birth Art Cafe
Sunday 9th October 10am for a 10.30 -12.30 workshop

Presented by Gillian Nevin

A chance to experience what happens at a Birth Art Café gathering!
The concept of Birth Art café was devised by Tamara Donn to provide a space for pregnant women to come together and access their innermost thoughts through the creative act of drawing, painting or modeling with clay. Like the birth process, the birth art process throws up challenges and we’ll explore these together.

Workshop Four - Breastfeeding
Sunday 13th November 10am for a 10.30 -12.30 workshop

Presented by Adeline Ayers

In this session we will explore the doula's role in supporting women to prepare for, establish and maintain manageable breast feeding in a modern society, promoting one of the most fulfilling and empowering experiences of motherhood and enhancing the health and well being of mother and baby.

Workshop Five - Shiatsu for Labour and Birth
Sunday 15th  January 2012 10am for a 10.30 – 12.30 workshop
